Perhaps one of the best things to have complementing your meal at a hawker centre is a plate of freshly barbecued chicken wings and satay. Barbecued to golden perfection with crispy burnt bits that never fail to make us grin even though we know it’s bad for us.

We aren’t the type to shun away from greasy food and whenever we are in groups, we always make it a point to order up some satays and barbecued chicken wings for sharing and one of our favourite stalls to patronise is Chong Pang Huat. They have multiple outlets scattered all over hawker centres Singapore but with regards to their standard, they don’t differ much from one another.

Chong Pang Huat Satay 1

Throw us some good ol’ satay sticks and we’ll choose them over an atas skewer any day. Providing the ultimate source of comfort, these greasy, flavourful satay sticks (S$0.60 per stick) by Chong Pang Huat are a must to order when you are with a group of friends.

Chong Pang Huat Satay 2

Each skewer had the appropriate lean meat to fat ratio and we especially appreciate how they all had a good char on the outside, giving it a smoky, toasted aroma. Chong Pang Huat offers chicken, pork, mutton and beef options.

Do note that there is a minimum of 10 sticks to be ordered. Not that 10 would be too many, anyway.

Chong Pang Huat Chicken Wings

Costing just S$1.30 each, these chicken wings boasts a smoky scent. Crisp on the outside and succulent on the inside, we must say that these wings taste best after having squeezed the lime over and dipped into their tangy, pungent chilli at the side.
