This Halal-certified eatery located just a 5-minute walk away from Tai Seng MRT serves a huge range of zi char items. We’d recommend the Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Dice Rice (S$5.50) which sees a rather large helping of crisp chicken coated in a luscious and creamy salted egg yolk sauce that is slightly spicy.

Located at 18 Tai Seng Street is renown Hawker Chan, the stall that shot to fame when it was awarded one Michelin star in the Singapore Michelin Guide 2016. Triumphing regular store-bought loaves any day, Jie Bakery in Taiseng is one of the few surviving traditional bakeries in Singapore. Founded and helmed by a second generation hawker, William Liou, Mr Lorbak is famous for its extremely value-for-money Lu Rou Fan that does not skimp on the taste and flavour. Mr Lorbak’s Signature Braised Pork Rice is a must-try item and it comes with pork belly, a braised egg, and black fungus which is then all drenched in a thick gravy made from 20 herbs and spices.

At the same coffee shop as Mei Mei Roast is Tai Seng Fish Soup, which is another hot-hit amongst the office workers. The queues at this place can last up till 1.5 hours on bad days (we’re not kidding) and there is a good reason why; the fish soup here is insanely good and the fish they use is incredibly fresh and bouncy. The portion sizes are also really generous, which is very worth it for the price point.
