Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodles—Mouthwatering Prawn Noodles That’s Worth The Wait

Whitley Road Prawn Noodles is known to be one of the best prawn noodles stalls in Singapore. Pass by any one of their 4 outlets across Singapore during lunch hours and you are likely to see lots of people lining up to get their hands on a bowl of the prawn noodles.

Over the years, they have managed to garner a rather large pool of regular customers during meal hours despite selling their prawn noodles at steeper-than-usual price points. As such, we decided to hop on the bandwagon to find out exactly what all the hype is about.

Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodles offers both dry and soup versions for their noodles. What’s more, besides the usual pork ribs that many prawn noodle stalls offer, Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodles also throws in a hearty portion of fresh pig innards to go with their noodles. We opted for the dry version with pig liver (S$5.50), that comes with a bowl of their flavourful prawn broth on the side.

Upon first inspection, we thought that the portion was quite disappointing considering the price we paid for it. For S$5.50, all that you get is a small prawn and a few slices of pig liver nestled atop the noodles. Be that as it may, the final testament was the taste of the dish itself rather than the portion.

Digging in, the flavour of the noodles more than made up for the small portion. Each strand of noodle was coated in a savoury gravy and every mouthful we took impressed us with its depth of flavours. This bowl of dry prawn noodles hits the spot, especially so with the addition of their home-made chilli paste.

You can also opt for the soup version if you are looking for something more comforting. The unassuming bowl of soup at the side is definitely a crowd-pleaser. It boasts a heady note of pork and prawn and is full-flavoured.

All in all, we thought that the prawn noodles from Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodles lived up to its hype and it is definitely worth a try. However, the waiting time can go up to half an hour, so we suggest that you get something else to fill your stomachs in the meantime if you are hungry!
