Depot Road Zhen Mei Shan Claypot Laksa – Famed Claypot Laksa At Alexandra Village Food Centre

Tucked away in the food haven that is Alexandra Village Food Centre is Depot Road Zhen Mei Shan Claypot Laksa—one of the most famous laksa stalls in Singapore.

Does it live up to the hype?

We ordered a small portion of the Claypot Laksa (S$4) and received a piping hot claypot chocked full of laksa broth, silky rice noodles, taupok, fishcakes, shredded chicken, beansprouts and a generous helping of thick spicy gravy.

You can choose to add cockles (hum) to the laksa as well, just to add extra flavour!

The broth had a sweet taste with a creamy texture from the coconut milk, having a little of that claypot smokiness as well. Stir in the thick spicy gravy and some of their homemade chilli to enhance the flavour of the broth. Milder spice lovers can do without the chilli, but it sure packs a punch of spice and flavour!

Every single stall in Alexandra Village Food Centre was packed with people queueing for the good food and we would say it was definitely worth the wait. Depot Road Zhen Mei Shan Claypot Laksa is one of those “OG” hawker stalls that will always have a place in Singaporeans’ hearts.
