With our country’s obsession with food trends such as mala and salted egg, we Singaporeans tend to neglect traditional, back-to-basics local foods that our parents and grandparents grew up with tend to be easily forgotten.

Uncle Lim Traditional Pancakes maintains tradition by serving up their well-loved traditional pancakes at Telok Blangah Crescent Food Centre. For the older generation, a bite into these old school treats makes for a nostalgic trip down memory lane and for the younger generation, it’ll be a nice change from your usual processed hot dog bun for breakfast.

UNCLE LIM TRADITIONAL PEANUT PANCAKE

Made from scratch right down to mixing in the flour for a batter with the perfect consistency, the traditional pancakes here may cost just S$0.80 each, but it is the product of lots of hard work.

The best seller at the stall and a flavour we’re confident will be a hit amongst kids and adults alike would be their Peanut Pancake, also commonly known as ‘Min Jiang Kueh’. Their rendition comes generously stuffed with a copious amount of peanut filling. Nutty, savoury and slightly sweet at the same time, the peanut provides the pancake with a gritty texture as well as a satisfying crunch.

UNCLE LIM TRADITIONAL RED BEAN PANCAKE.

For red bean lovers, we recommend that you get their Red Bean Pancake (S$0.80). Tear apart the round, chewy pancake and watch the velvety red bean filling flow out; one whiff of that sweet and moist red bean will drag you back to the heydays.

Coconut and cheese flavoured pancakes are also served here at Uncle Lim Traditional Pancakes.

Aside from these nostalgic treats, you can also check out some of the other food that they sell such as BBQ Chicken Wings and Otah.
