7 Great Spots In Singapore To Study And Work At

22 October

When you think of studying or doing work out of home, the usual Starbucks and Coffee Bean outlets around the island immediately come to mind. And while that is perfectly fine, there are occasions when these coffee chains are a little too overcrowded for us to get any work done.

Instead, we find ourselves getting distracted thanks to the crowd and the noise. Or even worse – having to wander around malls just trying to look for a more comfortable and conducive spot, hence wasting half the day away.

If you can resonate with these scenarios, then these 7 Great Spots In Singapore To Study And Work At should be able to give you a couple of ideas on where you should settle down for your next session. And yes, all these locations have reliable Wifi connection as well; thank us later!

You have probably seen tons of Instagram photos and snaps of [email protected]’s photogenic wavy shelves. But besides being a location for photo opportunities, the library is also a quiet and warm space to study at, with ample sunlight streaming through the glass windows.

Charging your laptop is easy; just look out for the two large tables near the entrance of the library with sockets. But otherwise, feel free to pick a spot amongst the comfortable leather recliners to get some work done.

Changi Airport isn’t just for you to catch your flights; it is where you can hang out at too! There are numerous coffee places such as Starbucks and Coffee Bean, and is a great place if you and your friends are planning to burn the midnight oil. Most of these coffee places are open round the clock.

Libraries are more often than not the most productive place to work and study at. The National Library Building (next to Bugis Junction) is huge and is a quiet place for you to get work done. The actual Lee Kong Chian Reference Library takes up levels 7 to 13, and you can go to the top floor, find a seat amongst the chairs and tables provided, and get started on work.

There are plugs located around the level as well, and you can get connected to [email protected] while you are in the building.

Polytechnics and universities are generally good for studying at too. The SMU campus has quite a fair number of public seating areas with plugs located around the school. It is located in town and is very accessible.

Wifi is slightly less accessible here, and while you probably have to know or make friends with an SMU student for the password, the place is still ideal if you are just planning to get some simple revision done.

If dealing with crowds and constantly scouting for available seats is not your thing, then you might want to invest in The Study Area. The place gives you access to a reliable high-speed wifi network, has plugs aplenty, and even provides scanners and printers should you need them.

The Study Area is quiet and appropriate for studying and working, but it comes at a starting price of S$10 for students, and S$20 for adults.

Yet another serene environment to study in. The [email protected] might just be one of the more underrated, unpopular study spots in Singapore. The library is actually one of our favourite spots, for it has numerous seats, leather sofas, and a world of books to pick from.

There is also a café within the library itself called Books & Cranny, which offers wifi connection, and snacks and drinks for an energy boost. Socket availability also goes without saying; there are lots available throughout the library.

Bookworms will really get a kick out of this café. Found along Robertson Quay, this spot has seats aplenty, and you can sieve through the various book collections the cafe has to offer. With an extensive menu of all-day breakfast numbers, soups, sandwiches, and sweet desserts to choose from, you will never go hungry! The café also has sockets to save your laptop’s life.

Even if you are not studying or working, The Book Café generally makes for a comfortable chill-out area, with homely seats and a world of novels to choose from.
