Song Heng Fish Ball Noodle — The Insanely Long Queues For This Is Completely Worth It!
A relatively unknown hawker centre located in the Southern part of Singapore, Telok Blangah Crescent Food Centre is a hidden gem packed with a number of scrumptious eats that we wouldn’t mind travelling to the south for.
One of them would be Song Heng Fish Ball Noodle, a no-frills stall that specialises solely in fish ball noodles. Fish ball noodle stores are a dime a dozen in Singapore, yet Song Heng Fish Ball Noodle manages to stand out from the rest with their incredible bowls of fish ball noodles that really hit the spot.
The snaking queues are truly a testament to how good their food is. We came down at around 10 am and the queue was already really long. They close at 3pm or when they completely sell out so if you want to get a bowl of this goodness, do make an effort to come down earlier!
A S$3 bowl sees a generous serving of noodles that come with a bowl at the side with 5 fat fish balls bobbing up and down in a clear, savoury soup.
Springy and cooked to a nice al dente, the noodles were tossed in a copious amount of spicy chilli sauce which gave the dish a lovely, fiery kick. We also appreciate how they did not hold back when it came to portion size and we easily had enough noodles to feed two people.
The star of the dish, the fish balls, lived up to the expectations. Bouncy, chewy and incredibly juicy, the fish balls paired well with the noodles and undoubtedly completed the dish.
