Seletar Nam Hoe Bak Kut Teh – Herbal & Peppery Goodness At Hainanese Village Food Centre

21 October
Seletar Nam Hoe Bak Kut Teh

Originally from the former Seletar Market Hawker Centre, Seletar Nam Hoe Bak Kut Teh has since called the Hougang Hainanese Village Food Centre its permanent home, serving up bowls after bowls of good Bak Kut Teh.

In addition to serving their Bak Kut Teh, the stall also serves other dishes such as the Pig’s Liver and Kidney Soup, and Braised Pig’s Trotters.

SELETAR NAM HOE BAK KUT TEH SOUP

On our visit, we had their signature Bak Kut Teh (S$5.50).

The soup came hot, savoury and rich with flavour. While it does have the herbal taste similar to a Hokkien version of the Bak Kut Teh, it was surprisingly peppery as well.

SELETAR NAM HOE BAK KUT TEH RIBS

For the wallet-friendly price that we paid, we were glad to find a generous portion of meaty pork ribs in the bowl of soup that we ordered. The meat was fresh and tender as well, making it easy to peel the meat off the ribs. When dipped with the accompanying chilli and dark sauce, the taste of the meat was more pronounced with a rounded aftertaste.
