It goes without saying that Johor Bahru is home to plenty of hip cafés and eateries that offer a multitude of cuisines. And there’s no arguing that fact, given the number of times we make a trip across the border a year.

GO Noodle House is one of the most well-known restaurants in JB and it is definitely a crowd-favourite when it comes to noodle joints in Malaysia. With 29 outlets in West Malaysia and 2 in Johor Bahru itself, there is no reason for you to miss this restaurant out on your next trip to Malaysia!

Singaporeans who are planning for a day trip to Johor Bahru will be happy to hear that GO Noodle House has an outlet located within City Square Mall—a.k.a the mall located right outside the immigration checkpoint. There is also another outlet in Paradigm Mall.

Every single bowl of their noodles is fully customisable to your liking. You get to choose from various options of noodles from thick to thin and have your noodles in either soup or sauce. The last step is deciding how fiery you want your noodles to be, or if you simply want to play it safe by opting for the non-spicy option.

We got a chance to try the various versions of their Ban Mee—the dry, the spicy and the original—and we simply couldn’t choose a favourite. Every version came with its own distinctive flavour profiles that made it different from one another.

Their noodles are smooth and silky, perfect for diners to slurp down every mouthful with ease. It has the right amount of chewiness to it, making the texture of their noodles praiseworthy, to say the least.

We particularly love their Superior Soup Ban Mee (RM10.50) as the broth was fragrant and piquant. For those who prefer a drier version, the Trio Special Dark Sauce Ban Mee (RM10.50) would be a good choice as every strand of noodle is nicely coated with a sweet and savoury dark sauce.

Go Noodle House Balls

Besides their noodles, the meatballs and fish balls at GO Noodle House are noteworthy too. From their signature Fu Zhou Fish Ball (RM3.80) to homemade Pork Balls (RM3.80), there is no doubt you won’t be chomping on this by the container loads.

Our personal favourite was the Bursting Meat Ball (RM3.80) which, upon biting into it, reveals a piping hot filling that is both tasty and molten hot. If you are in a group, we suggest that you get a mixture of their meatballs and fish balls to get the best of both worlds.

All in all, GO Noodle House is somewhere you may wish to consider if you are looking for a bowl of comforting and satisfying noodles. Because each bowl is customisable, diners will each have their own go-to combination that they like the best, so we reckon you head over to find out which you fancy the most!
