The season of joy and giving is soon upon us. That’s right, it’s Christmas! Who doesn’t love the season of giving and sharing? At its heart, Christmas is still a special day for many Christians here in Singapore. It’s a religious celebration like any other, except over here, everyone gets to take part in the frenzy and the fun that comprises fake snow, stunning decorations, massive spruce trees and of course, a myriad of festive eats.

It may be summer all year round in Singapore, but Christmas spirits are in full swing at Gardens by the Bay’s Christmas extravaganza. Back for its fourth year, Christmas Wonderland, Singapore’s biggest yuletide fair is set to entice you with the biggest, brightest and most magical experience ever from its many installations to a dazzling array of fun activities and entertainment for all visitors.

In light of the event’s immense popularity, admission is, unfortunately, no longer free. Admission tickets can be bought either online or at the venue itself. They are going at S$4 from 01 to 07 December 2017 (S$6 at the gate), S$6 from 08 to 14 December 2017 (S$8 at the gate) and S$8 from 15 December to 25 December 2017 (S$10 at the gate). Starting from 31 October 2017, you can purchase your tickets online. Complimentary entry is given for up to 3 children under 0.9 metres with each paying adult.

Happening from 01 December 2017 to 26 December 2017, Christmas Wonderland is scheduled to open daily from 4pm to 11pm. Here are 8 things you can expect from Christmas Wonderland 2017.

As you enter the Christmas Wonderland, be greeted by Spalliera, the magnificent new 13-metre-high Luminarie Christmas tree that illuminates the fairground and provides the perfect backdrop for a photo (or ten).

This perennial favourite is made entirely by hand using a specific type of wood that can only be obtained from the South of Italy and features thousands of multi-hued bulbs intricately arranged on frames.

The Luminarie are magnificent structures of light that are popular mainstays at Christmas Wonderland. Handmade by skilled Italian craftsmen, this year’s luminaries are inspired by the celebration of life and will feature over 70 gorgeous structures with some encompassing influences from Singapore’s Indian, Chinese and Malay cultures.

The rhythms of Africa arrive in Gardens by the Bay for the Asian premiere of a jaw-dropping circus spectacular. Be amazed by an unashamedly joyful mix of astonishing stunts and astounding circus skills presented by Circus Abyssinia from Ethiopia. Aiming to thrill and inspire with ‘Ethiopian Dreams’, that loosely translates the exuberant message of the power of imagination and dreams, Circus Abyssinia is an unmissable event for children, but all ages will love the show’s extraordinary physical feats of strength, dexterity and fluid grace.

These stellar performances can be viewed daily except for 4, 11, & 18 December 2017. Tickets are going at S$8 for kids above 0.9 metres and at S$12 for adults.

For the first time, visitors can skate in the tropics at a synthetic outdoor skating rink located at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay. The rink, that spans 240 square metres, is imported directly from Switzerland and will be surrounded by festive luminaries light sculptures to further elevate the experience.

Enjoy the crisp, cool air brush against you in an open setting as you marvel at the stars above you. Whether you are a proficient skater or not, this is definitely an experience you will not forget.

Tickets are going at S$8 for children ages 4 – 12 years old and at S$10 per adult.
