Ye Ri Xiang Xiao Chi – Hidden Gem in Beauty World Serving Local Hawker Delights

Beauty World Food Centre is always a popular choice for food lovers to head down to for cheap but incredibly satisfying and tasty meals. Constantly packed with people, diners here are known to arrive early, even before opening hours, to ensure that they get a plate of their favourite dish before it is sold out.

A hidden gem situated at Beauty World Food Centre is Ye Ri Xiang Xiao Chi. With a menu dishing out our favourite local dishes including Carrot Cake, Rojak Cuttlefish, Fried Oyster and Rojak, it was clear that these local delights offered by the stall were modest but packed with flavour.

We ordered a small portion of the Fried Oyster (S$5). The dish was fried very nicely, absorbing the right amount of ‘wok hei’ for that aromatic smoky flavour. It was eggy yet crispy and not overwhelmingly starchy or oily.

Of course, most importantly, there was a generous portion of sizeable oysters which were fresh and plump. A burst of pleasant brininess flooded our tastebuds when we bit into an oyster. The dish was also served with chilli, which complemented the dish well and brought the flavours together with some heat and tang.
