Noordima Malay Food Stall – Back To Basics Nasi Lemak That Hits The Spot
Tucked away in a corner of Telok Blangah Crescent Market & Food Centre is Noordima Malay Food Stall, an unassuming hawker stall that serves up Malay food classics such as mee siam, lontong and nasi lemak.
Having been around for decades now, you can expect a straightforward menu of typical and unpretentious Malay food with no fancy twists incorporated. If indulging in a plate of nasi lemak is your ideal breakfast, then you’d be glad to know that their nasi lemak will not disappoint. It comes with the standard chicken wing, peanuts, sambal and ikan bilis, but the egg is a unique omelette that features cut chillis. Simple but a game changer in its own right.
Their nasi lemak (S$3) is done simply and leaves little to your imagination but that is exactly what we adore. Featuring just a piece of chicken wing, an omelette containing cut chillis, ikan bilis, peanuts and sambal, this basic plate of nasi lemak is comfort food we’d crave for both breakfast and supper.
This honest dish encompasses everything you would expect of a standard nasi lemak—the rice boasts a fragrant aroma and the chicken wing was well-marinated and tender, although there really isn’t much to shout about it.
What’s worth a mention though, is the chilli omelette. Fried together with green and red chillis, the egg is fried till golden brown on the edges and pairing it with their chilli at the side would give you a satisfying savoury combination with a subtle element of heat that creeps up on you towards the end.
The nasi lemak from Noordima Malay Food Stall may not take the cake as the best around, but it is definitely a decent plate of nasi lemak that warrants a try if you’re in the area.
