Storage Hack: How To Store Your Cosmetics At Zero Cost
Ever constantly rack your brains on how to best store all your cosmetics?
The buying is not stopping anytime soon, and you are only accumulating more and more cosmetics and beauty products. While getting rid of old/ damaged ones, your pile gets messy and along the way, it just looks like war zone; it will take you forever to find your favourite pink blusher.
It’s high time to store them cosmetics properly. No need to spend money buying lots of boxes or shelves. We have some storage hacks for you to organise your makeup more efficiently; no more scrambling around just to look for one product. Of course, these tips won’t cost you a thing because you are basically recycling items from your home!
#1 ICE CUBE TRAY ORGANISERS
Ice cube trays only cost a dollar or two and you can get them pretty much anywhere. Ask Mom and she might even have some to spare!
What most people don’t realise is that ice cube trays actually make the perfect organisers for your single eyeshadows and blushers!
The smaller ice cube trays can house your eyeshadows.
Here’s a tip: arrange them according to their colour family. This makes choosing and/or looking for a colour a lot easier!
Buy wider or bigger trays for bigger items such as blushers, bronzers or highlighters that come in a single pan.
#2 UTILISING OLD VASES OR CUPS AS BRUSH/LIPSTICK HOLDERS
If you have any pretty mugs, jars or tins lying around, do not throw them away! Instead, clean them out and use them as brush holders.
They can even be used to house longer lipsticks, lipliners, eyeliners, mascaras and more.
Beautify your brush holders by adorning them with ribbons, stickers, glitter, paint and more.
#3 ORGANISE YOUR DRAWERS BASED ON TYPE OF MAKEUP FOR EASY NAVIGATION
If you still have a lot more makeup to keep, we suggest buying acrylic makeup drawers. These are really cheap and can usually be found in many of those budget shops.
Store them according to their type, e.g. concealers in one drawer, mascaras in another.
#4 KEEP BIGGER MAKEUP PALETTES OUTSIDE OF DRAWERS FOR EASY REACH
When you stack makeup palettes up, it is hard to navigate or to reach for the ones at the bottom of your pile.
What you can do instead is to get a huge plastic box like the one pictured above, or get a file or CD organiser, to display your palettes in a way that you can easily reach.
#5 KEEP BOXED ITEMS IN A BUCKET SO YOU CAN PICK ONE EASILY ANYTIME
If you use false lashes and if you chuck them all over the place or on top of one another, it becomes mission impossible when you are looking for just that one pair. Lay them all out in a flat box. Get one from Mom because she would probably have many “spare boxes” lying around at home that you can recycle and use.
