An oil tank has reportedly broke out in flames today (20 April 2016) at Tembusu Road on Jurong Island. The Singapore Civil Defence Force is currently on the scene trying to control the fire.

There are no reports of any casualties yet. It has been said that the oil storage tank that caught flames was about 40 metres in diameter, and that the impact created is significant as the fire and fumes can be seen from the sea.

Photos and videos have been shared on social media, showing the current state of the fire and the massive plumes of toxic smoke that have now polluted the air around it.

The heavy rain in Singapore this afternoon did not do much to contain the flames. The massiveness will take some time to settle down, and news has it that it will be a prolonged operation to completely put out the fire.
