6 Western Coffeeshop Stalls In Singapore That Offer Affordable Steaks
In Singapore’s ever expanding food scene, steak still reigns as one of the most highly sought after food items among the food-obsessed, and to be able to taste a quality cut is by far one of the most pleasure-inducing experiences.
But let’s be real, a meal at a fancy steakhouse isn’t cheap. Which is why we are immensely thankful for certain western food establishments that cater to the common folk like us by selling delicious, expertly-cooked steaks for a margin of the price you would typically pay elsewhere. The steak scene here is sizzling, but not every eatery does it right.
Here is our list of 6 best coffee shop steaks in Singapore.
#1 CHAR GRILL BAR
When it comes to western cuisine for the masses, no one does it better than Char Grill Bar. Boasting more than 10 outlets islandwide, what you can expect is nothing short of value-for-money, fuss-free and incredibly satisfying Western fare.

#2 COLLIN’S GRILLE BENTO EXPRESS
While they are better known for their restaurant concepts, their hawker stall concepts are also worth mentioning. Their menu features a stunning selection of Western dishes that see influences stemming from Italy, France, the US and even Japan, but the highlight for us is always their grilled Angus steak.

#3 FATTY BOM BOM
With most of their dishes priced reasonably below S$10 and with portion sizes as huge as the waistline can expand, Fatty Bom Bom is probably a good bet if you’re looking to cut costs. While their menu offerings are plenty, they only have one steak option.
The FattyBom Tender Steak (S$10) comes with steamed garden greens and a large portion of cajun fries. The beef itself is thick and juicy and the black pepper sauce that coats it gives the meat a subtly peppery and savoury kick.

The Carving Board is a Western stall within a busy coffeeshop at Yuhua Village in Jurong East that serves up affordable Western dishes as well as beers on-tap. Their spaghetti line-up is intriguing in that there are plenty to choose from but perhaps the thing you definitely must try is their steak.

#5 UNO BEEF HOUSE
Perhaps one of the best yet most highly underrated Western food stalls is UNO Beef House. The name of it says it all, and although their other offerings are stellar, the one thing you absolutely must try is their steak.
You can choose from a selection of cuts be it a sirloin, tenderloin or ribeye. Our recommendation is to go for the ribeye as it offers the perfect ratio of fat and tender meat, resulting in the most flavour. Seared to perfection, the steak arrives on a sizzling hot plate with a delicious black pepper sauce ladled over top. It also comes with a deep-fried mashed potato ball, baked beans, bits of onions and a tomato.

#6 WEST GRILL STATION
Affordable, tasty and served in massive portions, West Grill Station is a fantastic alternative if you’re itching for a good and hearty Western meal without breaking the bank. The concept is very similar to Astons in that you get to choose from a wide selection of sides to go with your main, with the only exception being that some of their outlets serve ice cream as well.
We are huge fans of their steak for the simple reason that it is seared perfectly, achieving our desired doneness every time—not to mention their black pepper sauce is super tasty too.
