A full-fledge hotel in Mandai – near to Upper Seletar Reservoir – is set to open its doors to the public by 2023. Get ready for it because the Eco-Lodge will occupy 4.65ha of land, which is the equivalent of six football fields!
The hotel will also cater to banquets and have events facilities for to accommodate conferences and events of all sorts.
True to its name of being an eco-friendly building, a 15m setback from the edge of the reservoir will act as a buffer area for plants that are close to the reservoir so they will be retained. Despite its size, the Lodge will compromise on height to minimise any shading effects on the trees surrounding it.

As part of the project, there will be two more attractions built in the vicinity of the Lodge. Planet Explorer and Sri Seletar Point offer an “indoor nature-themed entertainment hub” that will feature galleries used for both permanent and temporary exhibitions and function rooms to host workshops as well as mini lectures.
A few themes that will be running through the exhibitions are conservation, sustainability, natural sciences and biodiversity. There will also be classes on conservation for children at the Forest Kindergarten.
Come 2023, Mandai will transform into a huge nature attraction with more than just the Eco-Lodge and the two smaller attractions. The new Bird Park which relocated from Jurong will be unveiled, together with the Rainforest Park North and South.
The countdown (of years) may seem long, but it will be well worth it. Developments in Singapore are truly amazing!
