Have you ever wondered how the salted egg yolk trend managed to survive in Singapore’s food scene? Perhaps it is due to the unmistakable blend of salted egg yolk, condensed milk, curry leaves and chilli padi that we are so addicted to.
One of our favourite places in Singapore to satisfy our cravings for Salted Egg Chicken/ Pork Ribs rice is at Taste Good, a hidden gem nestled on the second floor of Sim Lim Square that serves up stellar economical mixed rice dishes, and most importantly, the extremely popular Salted Egg Chicken with rice (S$5).
We visited Taste Good for their highly-raved Salted Egg Chicken with rice (S$5) and as expected, we were beyond impressed.
Served in a mini wok, a generous portion of salted egg chicken is layered atop cabbage and also comes with a sunny side up egg (with a top-up of S$0.50) and white rice. We appreciated that Taste Good kept the presentation simple, as the beauty of its simplicity allowed us to focus on the true flavours of the dish.
The smooth, creamy salted egg yolk sauce was the bomb. One mouthful was sufficient to experience the explosion of flavours that we enjoyed immensely.
Other than salted egg chicken, Taste Good also offers Salted Egg Yolk Pork Ribs with rice—which is also highly raved about.
If salted egg yolk sauces are not your cup of tea, Taste Good also several other mini wok dishes that you can try. This includes Butter Pork Ribs (S$5), Cereal Fish (S$5.50) and Mini Steamboat with Fish Soup.
When visiting, do not alarmed by the queue outside this humble eatery as Taste Good is popular with both the office crowd and students. Even so, this only goes to show how amazing their Salted Egg Chicken Rice and dining options are, because their Salted Egg Chicken Rice does not just look good, it tastes good too!
