In a few hours’ time, we are predicting a frenzy in every McDonald’s store across sunny Singapore. No, Maccas is neither launching a Hello Kitty plush toy collection nor is it offering free food. We all know how Singaporeans go absolutely gaga over mouthless kitties and complimentary stuff – but we are confident that this piece of exciting news will soon have you previously nonchalant peeps grinning.

So without further ado, let us break to you the best damn thing that happened all week: McDonald’s Singapore will be launching a range of Singapore-inspired dishes, namely Pepper Crab Shaker Fries, Salted Egg Yolk McChicken Burger, Gula Melaka McFlurry and Banana Pie from Thursday, 30 June 2016 onwards. Shiok, right?

If you are not even remotely excited about McDonald’s new menu, then you are probably not a Singaporean. McDonald’s previous truffle fries was a complete letdown but we are now in high hopes that our all-time favourite shaker fries will be available in the form of twister fries and complemented with black pepper crab flavouring!

Singaporeans’ obsession with salted egg yolk is clearly unhealthy, but whatever. From croissants to crabs, we are seeing it in every possible single dish that even McDonald’s has succumbed and jumped onto the bandwagon by releasing a chicken burger smeared with this addictive sauce.

This Salted Egg Yolk McChicken Burger is also served with fragrant curry leaves and yes, it is halal-certified should you be wondering.

Complete your meal with a fragrant Banana Pie and a sinful Gula Melaka McFlurry. The former reminded us of the traditional goreng pisangs while the latter is a classic vanilla soft-serve swirled with coconut palm sugar syrup and fragments of kueh lapis. What calories? We have never heard of that word before.

We are not sure about you, but our patriotic hearts are brimming with happiness. How can any true-blue Singaporean not be excited over this menu? When the clock strikes 12am, we are probably driving to McDonald’s to savour all that goodness.
