As dog owners, you will always be inclined to share whatever you are consuming with your pups. But know that the human anatomy is inherently different from a dog and what might be deemed edible to us might not necessarily be remotely safe for dogs.

From alcohol, chocolate to coffee, here are Seven Foods You Should Never Ever Feed Your Dogs if you want your canines to lead a healthy life.

Craft-Beers

#1 ALCOHOL

Any food that contains alcohol is a definite ‘no’. When dogs consume alcohol in any forms, they are subjected to breathing difficulties, puking, coordination problems and in worst case scenarios, death.

#2 AVOCADO

Avocado is healthy for us human beings but the substance it contains called Persin is immensely harmful to dogs when consumed in large amounts. So the next time you are enjoying your guacamole, remember – no sharing.

#3 CANDY

Candies are more often than not made with xylitol, a sweetener that could cause your dog’s blood sugar to dip and sometimes liver damage too. The consequences include coordination loss, lethargy and even seizures.

#4 CHOCOLATE

Chocolates contain theobromine and this chemical compound is the primary reason why your dogs cannot have any of these sweet treats. Even a simple act of licking from the bowl could cause a dog to throw up or suffer from diarrhoea – so imagine what would happen if your dog eats an entire bar of chocolate!

#5 COFFEE

Just because you need coffee to get by doesn’t mean it is the same for your pup. Heart palpitations and rapid breathing might wreck havoc on your dog’s health when it consumes too much caffeine. Make sure you keep the coffee away from its reach!

#6 DAIRY PRODUCTS

Dogs should not eat ice cream at all, no matter how unbearable the heat is. Milk causes diarrhoea and other digestive problems, so ignore the puppy eye expression because you are ultimately doing your dog a favour.

#7 GARLIC AND ONIONS

It does not matter what state these garlic and onions are in. Eating these herbs in significant amounts could damage the red blood cells of a dog which will consequently lead to anaemia. Symptoms are pretty obvious; you will notice your dog becoming significantly weaker.
