Nestled under an HDB block in Anchorvale Street, lies Chef Recipe that serves up a myriad variety of affordable and delicious western dishes. This hidden gem offers hearty mains ranging from burgers, pasta, chicken, baked rice, steaks, snacks to fresh salads, mostly below S$10.

This humble eatery can get a little crowded during lunch and dinner hour but the food was served piping-hot in less than 10 minutes. If you happen to be around the Anchorvale area, the Food Paradise coffeeshop houses delectable local delights and Chef Recipe is not one to be missed.

Chef Recipe Salted Egg Yolk Chicken 2

Chef Recipe recently launched their Salted Egg Yolk Chicken (S$5.90), served with a fresh salad and twister fries and we knew we had to give it a try. The promotion menu is placed right on top of the cashier counter and it is hard to miss it when you are placing your order. At less than S$6, you can get a generous portion of Salted Egg Yolk Chicken and we promise you that it is worth every calorie.

The fried chicken cutlet is topped with creamy salted egg yolk sauce and beneath it lies a bunch of twister fries that is one of the highlights of the dish. The salted egg yolk sauce is a tad on the lighter side but it complements the fried chicken really well and it took us less than 5 minutes to mop up the dish. Their fresh salad adds a refreshing touch to the dish and it balances out the dish pretty well. At a pretty reasonable price point, this dish is one of the must-trys from Chef Recipe.

Chef Recipe Tiger Prawn Pasta

With 6 choices of pasta on the menu, we opted for Tiger Prawn and Mushroom Spaghetti (S$7.50) and it came with a few pieces of prawns, mushrooms and other garnishes. We were quite disappointed with the prawns as it did not seem like legitimate tiger prawns judging by the size when it was served but fortunately, the prawns were fresh and succulent.

The pasta was a little overcooked but the tomato sauce did hit the spot for us. If you are not a fan of strong tomato flavours, this dish is the one for you. Furthermore, we were really impressed by how it was so artistically plated despite it being such a simple dish.

Chef Recipe Sweet Potato

As we were craving something crispy and fried, we opted for their Sweet Potato (S$2.20). For a healthier alternative as compared to french fries and given its really affordable price point, why not? Their sweet potato has a crispy texture and it was so soft on the inside. We will definitely recommend this side item to go along with your hearty mains to complete the wholesome meal.

Chef Recipe Exterior

Located at the corner of the Food Paradise coffeeshop, Chef Recipe is indeed a hidden gem in the Anchorvale neighbourhood. It is no surprise that there are so many people queuing up for it even after lunch hours.

You will be spoilt for choice as the stall has plenty of pictures of their food and we had a hard time figuring out what to order as all of the dishes looked so delicious.

Chef Recipe Group Shot

It is not easy to find a Western stall that serves restaurant-quality dishes with most of them costing below S$10 and Chef Recipe has done it right. There are so many other palatable dishes available to try and we will definitely be back to try them.
