With so many attractions spread across its terminals, there is no questioning why Changi Airport is consistently ranked as one of the best airports in the world. Not only is this man-made marvel a hub for air transport in Singapore, but it is effectively a destination in its own right.
As of late October 2017, Changi Airport officially welcomes travellers as well as locals to its brand new Terminal 4 (T4). On top of the plethora of amenities and attractions that imbue the vibrant, fun and positively surprising vibe of the terminal, T4 is set to be a shopping and dining haven with a lineup of over 80 well-loved retail and F&B outlets.
Passengers and airport visitors can indulge in innovative concepts and unique experiential zones as well as a wide range of popular homegrown and international retail and dining options—many of which are in Changi Airport and Singapore for the first time.
Apart from its stunning array of facilities, amenities, dining and F&B offerings, T4 also impresses with many improvements to its operational efficiency with the introduction of automation services such as their new FAST system.
THE ‘FAST’ SYSTEM
The FAST system—short for ‘Fast And Seamless Travel’—includes automated check-in kiosks for the retrieval of flight bookings as well as the printing of boarding passes and bag tags. It also features automated baggage drops and immigration clearance that makes use of facial recognition technology, allowing for a smoother and efficient process.
ONE-STOP FOR TRAVELLERS’ FAVOURITE COSMETICS, PERFUMES, LIQUOR AND TOBACCO
Making a debut at Changi Airport for a seamless shopping experience is the integrated Cosmetics, Perfumes, Liquor & Tobacco concessions that are operated by The Shilla Duty-Free and DFS respectively. Instead of paying at two different cashiers, passengers can now shop for their favourite duty-free purchases from both product categories and pay for them in a single transaction.
Make-up, wellness, skincare and fragrance brands are intuitively categorised by zones, each uniquely designed to create an immersive experience. Beauty fanatics will be excited to know that they can pick up products from new brands such as Alexander McQueen perfumes, Diptyque, Tory Burch perfumes as well as Hera.
PARADISE FOR LIQUOR LOVERS
For wines and spirits, travellers can look forward to attractive retail concepts at three experiential zones—The Craft Collection, Cocktail Bar and The Whiskey House.
For craft beer and spirit aficionados, The Craft Collection, which is new to Changi Airport, is sure to get you excited. Offering passengers a wide selection of craft beers and spirits from around the world on tap, there is bound to be something to tickle anyone’s fancy.
The Cocktail Bar entices passengers with carefully curated cocktail mixes for sampling and should you decide to buy home a new spirit without any prior experience, allow their resident mixologist to craft a cocktail (or two) to give you a better idea of how to best enjoy it.
The Whiskey House is every whiskey lover’s dream. The central bar is decked out with an impressive assortment of premium whiskies that are available for complimentary tastings—simply grab yourself a seat and enjoy!
Located right above the Centralised Security area, the LED display entertains passengers waiting at the security screening queues. This immersive wall showcases Singapore’s skyline and Changi‘s connectivity to ASEAN destinations.
HERITAGE-INSPIRED RETAIL CONCEPT
Inspired by Peranakan shophouses nestled around Singapore, this zone houses familiar traditional brands, Bee Cheng Hiang, Bengawan Solo, Curry Times, Eu Yan Sang and Heavenly Wang, with heritage-themed facades, and furnishings to invoke a sense of nostalgia and giving travellers a glimpse into Singapore’s yesteryears.
TAKING SHOPPING TO GREATER HEIGHTS
The T4 shopping experience is enhanced by stores with 11-metre high double-volume façades and visually impactful storefront designs. This zone will offer a selection of popular international and local retail brands, featuring creative interior designs and an immersive shopping experience.
Among the new terminal’s other unique offerings, Singapore brand TWG Tea will introduce complimentary tea tasting for the first time in Changi Airport at T4, its largest retail store in the world. Be awestruck at more than 2000 tins of tea that adorn the store’s walls.
For some tasty and hassle-free grub or simply a beer to pass the time, pop by Tiger Den, a brand new restaurant concept by Tiger Beer. From local snacks such as satay to an extensive range of Tiger Beer’s products, this is truly an experience you will not be able to find anywhere else.
