Belitung Island might just be one of the most underrated beaches in Asia. It is part of the Bangka-Belitung island cluster in the mid-western part of Indonesia. The island got its name from the tin mines that are scattered around it. The white sandy beaches overlooking the clear blue sea makes Belitung one of the most beautiful islands in Southeast Asia – a pity it is not so well-known!

The boats will take you around the various sandy beaches along the lagoon, and it will even stop along certain areas where you can dive into the turquoise waters. You can even eat some barbecued and grilled food at certain islands!

#3 THE MALDIVES

Obviously, no compilation of the best pristine white beaches and blue seas is complete without including The Maldives. It has been nicknamed the prettiest, most breathtaking beach in the world – and who are we to refute that claim?

#5 PANARI ISLAND IN JAPAN

Panari Island in Okinawa, Japan is also another destination that is not so popular, even though it really deserves more time under the limelight. The area consists of two islands, the Kamiji island and the Shimoji island. A couple of families still live in Kamiji island in order to keep their ancestral lands.

Shimoji island, on the other hand, is a flat land with a large number of cow pastures. It is, in fact, made of emerged coral reefs!

Snorkeling and diving tours are conducted by a man called Kuroki-san, an island local. Panari island has one of the largest coral reef systems in Asia!

This one is a bit of an exception. It is actually a resort on a private island! The Aututai Resort is situated directly on the lagoon, and is the only private island resort in Cook Islands. We personally love the Overwater Bungalows. Everything about the resort makes it a perfect location for a couple’s honeymoon!
