28 October

It is hard to not get jaded by the mundane activities of day-to-day life. Wake up, get dressed, go to work; it is a never-ending cycle that repeats itself every day. With a fast-paced society like Singapore’s, it is also hard to put down the tasks you have on hand for a little bit of relaxation.

But you do not need to book a trip to the Maldives or any other exotic locations to give your mind its much-needed break. Indulging in simple artsy activities such as painting, colouring and drawing has also proven to be an amazing, easy way to destress. Over the next weekend, squeeze in a little bit of me-time with these 5 Artsy Activities in Singapore To De-Stress.

#1 ART JAM AT ARTEASTIQ

Escape the scramble of daily work life at Arteastiq, located right in the heart of Orchard Road. Arteastiq is a little tea house in Mandarin Gallery, and their concept blends the beauty of art with the refreshing taste of tea.

Arteastiq has an in-house Art Jam studio that allows you to get creative with a blank piece of canvas. The course is literally what it is called; you can get to release your inner Picasso, while humming along to tunes with a free cup of tea in hand. The studio provides you with brushes, sponges, and unlimited colour hues to play with—so all you need to do is show up, and have fun.

A single session is available from S$48 per person.

#2 WITHIN WATERCOLOUR WORKSHOPS

Have you ever scrolled through Instagram and come across lots of creative painters putting up pictures of their lust-worthy watercolour typography or art pieces? Well, there is no need to admire them through your phone screens. You can now apply for classes at WITHIN and produce a watercolour art piece of your own!

WITHIN holds watercolour classes every weekend, each with different themes. Sometimes, you will learn how to paint lush green botanicals such as palm trees; other times, you will work on delicate flowers instead. Pop by their website and take a look at their range of workshops over the weeks to come, and decide for yourself!

Workshops prices start from S$115 for a single session. You can even get packages that will entitle you to four, eight or twelve classes! The workshops are held at a little space in Rowell Road.

#5 ADULT COLOURING

Adult Colouring is our favourite!

You do not necessarily need to apply for classes in order to have some therapeutic time all to yourself. If you are not much of a social butterfly, or simply a homebody that would rather stay at home during your free time, start appreciating adult colouring!

Adult colouring books have recently become a thing, and we are totally onboard with it. Just visit your nearest Popular or Kinokuniya bookstore, and you will probably be able to find something that suits your fancy.

This concept is also adapted into apps such as Colourfy, Recolor, Colour Therapy, and more. Most of these apps do not cost a single cent!
