Security measures at airports do vary across cities and countries. As seasoned travellers, we have come to realise that there are several things which should not be worn to the airport to avoid being held up at security checkpoints.

From revealing outfits to metal accessories, here are 6 Things You Should Never Wear To The Airport When Travelling.

#1 METAL ACCESSORIES

Wearing or carrying any metallic accessories would cause the sensor to “beep”. What ensues next is everyone looking at you like a suspicious person and being pat-down by security personnel for full-body checks.

To avoid that, we suggest you remove all metallic items such as belts, jewellery and even your hair clips.

#2 COMPLICATED “STYLISH” OUTFITS

Based on past experiences, seemingly bulky outfits seem to catch the attention of security – who might lead them into thinking that you have something to hide. Wearing a complicated outfit will too have you suffering once you are on board, so think twice!

Some examples of complicated outfits include apparels with drapes and big pockets, big floppy hats and shades.

#3 JACKETS AND COATS

Sure, we need jackets and coats to keep warm. But remove them before you go for the security checks – the officers will tell you to do so anyway. In order to save time and pass through the security checks efficiently, remove your jackets and coats prior to the checks.

#4 REVEALING CLOTHING

If you are entering/leaving a religious and conservative country, it is only respectable to not wear an outfit that reveals too much. Sure, you would not want to attract unnecessary attention or worse still, be refused to board an aircraft! Yes, airlines do have the right to reject anyone dressed inappropriately.

#5 OFFENSIVE SLOGAN TEES

As mentioned in the previous point, passengers might be rejected to board an aircraft should their outfits be deemed as obscene or offensive. You might love your printed tee for silly reasons, but know that not everyone has the same sense of humour. So shove that shirt aside – better be safe than sorry! We mean, you don’t want to miss your flight. Right?

#6 BOOTS

Most passengers are required to remove their boots when going through security checkpoint. Imagine that hassle of having to untie and retie your shoelaces, removing and re-wearing your boots whilst having an entire queue waiting behind you.
