And don’t worry about there being a catch to redeeming this awesome deal because there is none. If you have an undying love for crabs, 21 Seafood’s S$30 for 2 Sri Lankan crab promotion will be your catch of the day.
16 different styles of crabs are featured on the menu at 21 Seafood and they range from traditional favourites such as the Chilli Crab, Black Pepper Crab and Crab with Salted Egg Sauce.
However, do note that there are different tiers of pricing for the styles of crabs. For instance, the Chilli Crab, Black Pepper Crab and White Pepper Crab can be ordered at no additional charge (other than the promotion of S$30 for 2 Sri Lankan crabs) but diners will have to top-up S$2 for flavours such as the Garlic Crab, Kam Heong Fragrant Crab and S$3 for the Creamy Butter Crab, Crab with Salted Egg Sauce and Cereal Oats Crab.
Diners will also have to choose a single cooking style for both of their Sri Lankan crabs and should take heed that this crab promotion may vary in accordance with seasonal prices.
The salted egg yolk trend took Singapore by storm and still continues to enjoy much popularity till today. We too, are fans of salted egg yolk and thus topped up S$3 to have our 2 Sri Lankan crabs cooked in the style of the Crab with Salted Egg Sauce
21 Seafood’s salted egg yolk sauce was rich, had a runny texture and was a great accompaniment to the juicy and fresh crab meat. The sauce was also light in flavour but lacked the kick that we usually would expect from a salted egg yolk sauce. Perhaps this was due to the absence of chilli padi or sufficient curry leaves, but this is one aspect of the sauce that we felt could be improved.
We are sure that most of us can agree that digging into crabs with some mantou on the side is a crucial aspect of the seafood experience. Crispy, billowy and not oily at all, 21 Seafood’s mantou (S$4 for 12 pieces) was a joy to have with the salted egg yolk sauce of the crab.
For those who are dining at 21 Seafood in a larger group or simply wish to have a taste of the zi char dishes that the restaurant has to offer, 21 Seafood has a wide selection of delights on their menu that will leave you spoiled for choice.
We decided to order the Prawn Paste Chicken (S$8/S$10/S$12) and Mixed Furong Omelette (S$6/S$8). Although they weren’t stunning dishes on their own, they were still good to have with our crabs.
To indulge in crabs without a pinch on your wallet, visit 21 Seafood for affordable yet delicious crabs and zi char dishes. A word of advice from us is to give the restaurant a call prior to your visit to make sure that they have not run out of crabs. You wouldn’t want to make the trip all the way down and be disappointed for nothing.
